Sandra Lee Laughman Graef was the Music Department Chair and Director of Bands for the 7th and 8th grades at Zionsville Middle School. She took great pride in her students' accomplishments and loved teaching. Her dedication to them inspired their hard work and resulted in a fine band program at the school. She was a member of the Anderson and Lafayette Symphony Orchestras' flute sections and also performed with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, and the Russian Festival Orchestra. With a Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College and a Master's degree in flute performance from Butler University, she earned membership in the National Music Honor Society, Pi Kappa Lambda, and the Calvert Award. She lost a 12-year battle with breast cancer in May, 2008.
